BACKGROUND

As an affiliate of White Elm, Mr. Sheppard provides real property appraisal and consulting services to attorneys, accountants, condemning authorities, local, state, and federal government entities and a wide variety of individuals involved in litigation, condemnation, and a multitude of other reasons for procuring valuations outside of lending concerns. Mr. Sheppard is a life-long resident of Georgia, graduated from Georgia State University, holds the sought-after MAI appraisal designation from the largest educational organization in the country, the Appraisal Institute, and holds the R/W-AC designation from the International Right of Way Association. Mr. Sheppard has served in all leadership positions within the local Atlanta Area Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, served on most of the local Chapter’s committees, and served on its Board of Directors. Mr. Sheppard has taught at various venues, including Appraisal Institute Chapters across the region on a variety of appraisal topics, and at a Georgia Association of Assessing Officials meeting regarding taxation of Section 42 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit properties. Additionally, Mr. Sheppard has served the Appraisal Institute on a national level as a final-level screener for MAI candidates and as a multi-year participant in their Leadership Development Conference in Washington where current appraisal issues affecting the appraisal industry are discussed among the country’s thought leaders and then relayed to Congressmen prior to their votes.

Mr. Sheppard owns a boutique appraisal firm affiliated with White Elm Group, Pritchett, Ball & Wise, Inc., which began operating in Atlanta in 1954. Mr. Sheppard personally has 25 years of commercial appraisal experience, including residential assignments as part of larger appraisal portfolios or condemnation matters, with focuses on complex/atypical and large-scale valuation assignments. Prior experiences include rails-to-trails acquisitions, conservation easements, air rights valuations, mineral valuations and impact studies, landfill valuations and impact studies, reservoirs, airside/airport land, contaminated properties, various encumbrances on full fee-simple ownership including right-of-way and utility easements with and without consequential damages to the remainder, as well as basic residential, industrial, retail, office, subdivision, and vacant land properties.
