As a CPA with over 30 years of experience, Mr. Brown has in depth expertise in the area of public company financial reporting. As a consultant, he has provided accounting advisory and support, SEC Reporting services, and served in interim Chief Accounting Officer and Controller roles. With expertise in GAAP, Reg S-X, and Reg S-K, Mr. Brown combines such knowledge with the application of critical thinking and analysis of complex accounting issues to subsequently document such analysis in “Plain English” for financial disclosure, auditor, and management clarity. A further expertise is in purchase accounting where been a part of significant M&A activity and has applied such knowledge for the integration and proper accounting thereof. Through various upper-level financial reporting roles in his career, he held responsibility for coordination, management and preparation of many 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K filings along with addressing SEC Comment Letters and the related responses.
Mr. Brown also maintains a keen interest in all things related to public company audit committees and CFOs. From tracking critical audit matters (CAMs) and material weaknesses over Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) to SEC hot button issues, Mr. Brown maintains a high level of knowledge in this area so as to serve and advise public companies.
